Henry Hui

Dr. Henry Hui is an Early Career Researcher and Research Associate at the Translational Cancer Pathology Laboratory, School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Western Australia. He is an internationally recognized expert in advanced cell analysis technologies, particularly imaging flow cytometry, and has pioneered the Immuno-flowFISH diagnostic method for blood cancers. He holds roles such as Associate Lecturer in Medical Science and Genetics (IMED 1003 & 1004), and Executive Secretary of the Australasian Cytometry Society.

Education: PhD (BSc BMedSci PhD W.Aust.) from the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on developing cutting-edge diagnostic tools for hematological malignancies, with patented innovations in cell analysis technology. His work has attracted over $3.6M in funding from industry and government, including collaborations with Sysmex Corporation, Cytek Biosciences, and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Research Interests: Flow cytometry, imaging flow cytometry, precision diagnostics for leukemia and myeloma, automation in medical diagnostics, and translational research commercialization. His work bridges research, clinical applications, and industry partnerships to advance healthcare globally.

Awards: 2018 ANSTO Eureka Prize, 2021 Cancer Council WA Early Career Researcher of the Year, and 13+ other accolades. He has led 12 grants totaling millions in funding and mentored 3 PhD students, 4 honours students, and clinical fellows.

Engagement: Co-chair of the 2025 CYTO-Connect conference, published educational guides on cytometry, and active in public outreach through media features and charity events.
