Henry Freund

Dr. Henry Freund is a Research Scientist at the Institute for Research in Electronics & Applied Physics (IREAP) at the University of Maryland College Park. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the same institution (1976). His research focuses on free electron lasers (FELs), including theoretical and computational studies of electron beam orbital stability in undulator magnetic fields, spontaneous/stimulated radiation emission, and FEL operation across the electromagnetic spectrum.

Dr. Freund has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Physical Society and has authored over 190 refereed journal papers. His work bridges fundamental physics with applied technologies, contributing to advancements in high-energy physics and laser systems. He is affiliated with the Bright Beams Collective Research Group, exploring cutting-edge topics in beam physics and coherent light sources.
