Dr Henry Dee is an Adjunct Professor in History at the University of Glasgow. Previously, he worked at the University of the Free State (2020–2021) and completed his PhD on Clements Kadalie at the University of Edinburgh (2015–2020). His research focuses on early 20th-century empire, labor, and migration, particularly African and Asian trade unions challenging colonial repression.
His work includes a comparative study of the Industrial and Commercial Workers' Union of Africa (ICU) and India's All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), emphasizing socialist internationalism and transnational labor solidarity. He co-edited 'I See You': The ICU, 1919–1930, a primary source collection.
Teaching includes global colonial fascism, empire history, and African Christianity at Queen Mary University London and Edinburgh. His articles explore topics like ICU's role in migrant unionization, Nigerian pan-Africanism, and border policies in colonial Southern Africa.
Collaborative projects include decolonizing university histories at Edinburgh and analyzing African student legacies. His work bridges labor movements, imperialism, and postcolonial studies without listed scientific awards.
