Henry Binford is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Material History Lab at Northwestern University's Department of History. He has served the department since 1973, evolving from early computer-assisted research to a focus on urban history and cultural approaches. His work centers on the human dimensions of urban development across time and space.
Binford's teaching career spans over four decades, earning him virtually every teaching award at NU, including the Charles Deering McCormick Professorship for Teaching Excellence. He pioneered innovative courses like 'Brave New Worlds' and led hundreds of field trips to historical sites. He has directed over 40 MA theses and served on 30 dissertation committees.
