Henrik Nielsen

Henrik Nielsen is a Clinical Professor and Leading Senior Physician at Aalborg University Hospital, affiliated with the Department of Infectious Diseases under the Clinical Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Aalborg University, Denmark. He is actively engaged in clinical research, public health initiatives, and academic leadership in infectious diseases.

His research interests span infectious diseases, epidemiology, clinical trials, viral CNS infections, brain abscess, COVID-19, and vaccinology. His work frequently appears in high-impact journals and contributes to national and international health policy.

The recent articles (2020–2025) reflect a strong trend toward pandemic response research, particularly on SARS-CoV-2, including vaccine safety (BiCoVac cohort), treatment efficacy (Remdesivir trials), immune markers in severe disease, and seroprevalence in vulnerable populations. He also maintains a significant focus on neurological infections, with meta-analyses and reviews on encephalitis and brain abscess, and pharmacokinetic studies on antiviral drugs in the CNS using porcine models.
