Henrik Andersen is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the School of Law, University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus), focusing on WTO Law and Sustainable Development. Previously, he held academic roles at Copenhagen Business School (Associate Professor, 2012–2014; Post.Doc, 2010–2012), the University of Central Lancashire (Senior Lecturer, 2016–2018), and others. His expertise spans international trade law, climate change law, and EU-China trade relations.
Education:
- PhD: EU Antidumping Determinations and WTO Law (Copenhagen Business School, 2008)
- MSc: Commercial Law and Business Administration (Copenhagen Business School, 2001)
- BSc: Commercial Law and Business Administration (Copenhagen Business School, 1998)
- Assistant Professor Programme in Teaching and Pedagogical Competence (Copenhagen Business School, 2010–2011)
Research Interests: Andersen’s work addresses WTO law’s intersection with environmental protection, climate change, and geopolitical trade dynamics. He examines legal challenges in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), EU-China trade disputes, and the role of WTO dispute mechanisms in promoting rule of law over power imbalances. His recent studies explore the legal implications of maritime trade routes and pharmaceutical pricing under WTO frameworks.
Teaching & Administration: Currently leads courses on EU Law, WTO Law, and Internal Market & Climate Change at UCLan Cyprus and Copenhagen Business School. He also coordinates educational programs at CBS Law.
Grants & Projects: Secured significant research funding, including £22,000 for establishing an international law research center (2015) and DKK 1.5 million for studying WTO judicial transparency (2009). His work often involves collaborations with institutions in Hong Kong, Florence, and India.
Professional Contributions: Editor for the Journal of Malaysian and Comparative Law and CBS Law Research Paper Series. Reviewed funding proposals for the UK’s ESRC and Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. Active in global legal dialogues, including keynote addresses on BRI legal challenges and WTO rule of law at events in Beijing, Aarhus, and India.
