Henrietta Grönlund is a Professor of Urban Theology at the University of Helsinki since 2019, affiliated with the Faculty of Theology and institutes like Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ) and Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies (Urbaria). She holds a Doctor of Theology (2012) and Docent title in Church and Social Studies.
Research Focus: Her work examines religion’s role in urban contexts, addressing inequality, wellbeing, and prosocial behavior. Specific themes include religious spaces’ safety, community resilience, and welfare state margins during crises like the pandemic. Methodological innovations combine ethnography with community engagement.
