Henk Byls is a Researcher at Thomas More University College since 2015, teaching history and history didactics in the Bachelor of Secondary Education program and historical teaching methods in the Primary Education program. Previously, he served eight years as a research associate at KADOC-KU Leuven and worked as a secondary school teacher in Brussels covering behavioral sciences, cultural studies, and history.
His research centers on historical disciplines including Flemish migration to France and the history of Catholic education in Belgium. He specializes in history didactics and educational resource development, actively contributing to initiatives like Project ELODIE involving 55 schools and the Quality Alliance for Secondary Education Teaching Materials, emphasizing teacher expertise over textbook quality.
