Aaldert Prins

Dr. Aaldert Prins is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Historical Theology at Evangelische Theologische Faculteit (ETF) Leuven since 2015, while also serving as a Consultant at Evadoc, KADOC, KU Leuven since 2009. He is an Associated Researcher at the Center for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Contemporary Society in Brussels since 2015, and a member of the European Pentecostal Theological Association since 2016.

His research focuses on Historical Theology, Missionary History, and Church History with particular emphasis on Belgian Protestantism during the 20th century. He has extensively studied the Belgian Gospel Mission (BGM) through its development from the British and Allied Soldiers Evangelistic Campaign (BASEC) into a regular faith mission that founded the Eglises évangéliques libres de la Mission Evangélique Belge in Belgium. His work explores theological frameworks of first-wave fundamentalism, women's missionary roles, and the financial dynamics affecting faith missions.

His publications analyze trends in religious heritage across Flanders, including Anglican, Islamic, Eastern-Orthodox, Jewish, and Protestant communities. Articles cover topics like the Battle for the Soul of the Belgian Soldier during WWI, the origins of the Free Evangelical Churches in Flanders, and archival studies of Protestant youth movements.

Dr. Prins has presented at conferences globally including in Jerusalem (2016), Malawi (2018), and Dallas (2015), discussing themes ranging from military chaplaincy developments to religious heritage conservation. His current research extends to religious documentation practices and the interplay between missionary work and socio-political changes in post-war Belgium.
