Henk Akkermans is a Full Professor of Supply Chain Management at Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), Tilburg University. He also serves as Director of the World Class Maintenance foundation in Breda and is an independent consultant. His research focuses on interorganizational supply chains, technical sectors (e.g., aerospace, telecom), system dynamics modeling, and Japan’s role in global business. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology and has held academic and industry roles since 1987.

Research Interests: Akkermans explores coordination mechanisms in complex supply networks, maintenance-driven smart services, and digital transformation. He develops system dynamics models to analyze decision-making limitations and asset lifecycle management. His work emphasizes technical sectors like electronics, healthcare infrastructure, and maritime industries.
