Hendrik Vuye is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Namur (FUNDP), where he has been teaching since 1993. He became the first holder of the chair of constitutional law and public freedoms at the university. Since September 1, 2001, he has held the title of professor, and became a full professor on January 1, 2004. He has also taught at the University of Antwerp from 1996 to 2008 and served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Hasselt University from November 2007 to August 2009, where he founded the new faculty.
Dr. Vuye earned his Doctor of Laws from KU Leuven on June 2, 1993, with a thesis on 'Possession and possessory protection of buildings and real estate rights.' He previously obtained master's degrees in law (1986), criminology (1986), and philosophy (1988) from the Sint-Catharinacollege in Geraardsbergen.
Hendrik Vuye's research focuses primarily on constitutional law and public liberties, with significant contributions to civil law as well. His work often examines the intersection of constitutional principles with practical legal applications in the Belgian context. His recent publications demonstrate a continued interest in fundamental rights, constitutional reform, and the evolving nature of Belgian federalism, particularly regarding the German-speaking Community and the legal framework governing the monarchy.

Professor Vuye has led research projects focusing on constitutional protection of fundamental rights, including protections under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights and children's rights. His teaching includes Constitutional Law, Public Liberties, and Specific Questions of Public and Administrative Law for the 2023-2025 academic period.
