Helmi Ohlhagen

Helmi Ohlhagen is a Professor of Graphic Art, Painting, and Artistic Concept at the Institute of Fine Arts, Philipps University of Marburg, where she has served since 2023. Previously, she held roles such as Extraordinary Professor and Scientific Employee at the same institution. Her academic career includes teaching positions at Justus-Liebig-University Gießen (1998–2005) and Philipps University of Marburg (1997–2007).

• Education: Magistra Artium (1995, University of Marburg) in Art History, Graphic Art, Painting, and Media Studies (1987–1995).

Her research and artistic practice focus on contemporary visual arts, integrating painting, graphic techniques, and digital art with an emphasis on artistic concepts and public space installations. She has collaborated on projects like PENNY STOCKS (2022–2024) and contributed to institutional design initiatives.

Helmi Ohlhagen has received recognition for her work, including the BBA Artist Prize 2024 Longlist and the Kunstpreis der Stadt Limburg für Malerei (2004).

She actively participates in academic governance, serving as Deputy Chair of the Departmental Council for German Studies and Art History at Philipps University (since 2024) and as Acting Chair of the Examination Committee II (2023). Her collaborations include grants from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for educational projects.
