Helena ROUX is a Doctoral Assistant at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Institute for Area and Global Studies (IAGS). She is conducting research under a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project on the uses of cultural heritage at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games of 2022. Her academic journey began with a master's degree in urban studies from the University of Lyon, complemented by international experience in China and an internship at WHITRAP Shanghai.
Her research interests include heritage conservation, industrial spaces, creative clusters, and their integration into urban development projects, with a focus on alternative cultures and urban space transformation. These interests are reflected in her master’s thesis on industrial heritage in Shanghai’s M50 district and her current doctoral work on heritage use in Olympic contexts.
