Helena Iacobaeus is a Lecturer at Linköping University's Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), specializing in Political Science (STATSV). Her research focuses on digital exclusion, democratic participation, and the role of public institutions like libraries and street-level bureaucrats in fostering digital inclusion. She also serves as LiU’s Grand Marshall, overseeing the annual Academic Ceremony. Previously, she worked in University Services and the International Affairs and Collaborations Division before pursuing her PhD.
Her academic contributions include studies on how public sector employees navigate digitalization challenges and the societal impacts of transitioning to digital public services. She co-founded the podcast *Aspects of Democracy*, which explores strengths of democracy through interdisciplinary discussions with LiU researchers. The podcast supports the SeGRID course, training public officials in sustainable e-governance.
Helena’s work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing accessibility in digital governance and resilience in democratic systems. She collaborates with researchers such as Mariana S. Gustafsson and Elin Wihlborg, addressing topics like minority rights and policy implementation. Her current research examines digital divides exacerbated by life disruptions, advocating for equitable digital citizenship.
