Helena Enocsson is a Docent (Senior Lecturer) and Researcher in rheumatology at Linköping University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences. Her primary role is within the Division of Inflammation and Infection, where she focuses on biomarkers of inflammation and organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other inflammatory diseases. She holds a Medical Doctor degree (2024), a PhD (2014), and a Master of Medical Science in Medical Biology (2008).
Her research emphasizes identifying biomarkers for improved diagnostics, treatment, and monitoring of SLE, with a particular interest in autoantibodies, acute phase proteins, and interferon pathways. She collaborates with networks such as the Swedish Society for Rheumatology, the DISSECT consortium, and the Mucosa Infection and Inflammation Center (MIIC). Additionally, she supervises degree projects and tutorial groups in medical programs.
Recent work highlights her contributions to understanding CRP’s role in SLE pathogenesis, genetic factors in autoimmune diseases, and ficolin-3’s link to hematological manifestations. Her studies aim to bridge clinical and experimental perspectives to advance targeted therapies for autoimmune disorders.
Helena Enocsson’s research also extends to vascular complications in SLE and the diagnostic utility of autoantibodies. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates clinical practice with experimental immunology, positioning her as a key figure in autoimmune disease research at Linköping University.
