Helen Woods

Helen Woods is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences, Nottingham Trent University (NTU), with a focus on social work education and research. She currently leads the MA Social Work program and has taught courses on residential care, social pedagogy, and research methods.

Her research explores the lived experiences of children in residential care, emphasizing stigma, belonging, and the impacts of movement/change in care settings. She evaluates the 'Breathe Free' domestic abuse program for Women’s Health Matters and has contributed to studies on parental substance misuse.

As a practitioner, Helen has over two decades of experience in youth justice, children's services, and substance misuse work. She remains registered with Social Work England and actively participates in the British Association of Social Workers.
