Helen Wallace is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and Lecturer at the University of Adelaide's School of Allied Health Science and Practice, part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She holds a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Sheffield (2008) and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland's Queensland Aphasia Research Centre, focusing on returning to driving with aphasia post-stroke.
Her research interests include aphasia management, stroke recovery, and clinical application of speech pathology practices. She contributes to third-year speech pathology courses, emphasizing clinical assessment and management, and serves on the School's interprofessional learning committee. Helen is also involved in the Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists (CATs) Language and Cognition Working Group and the Queensland Brain Injury Collaborative's Stroke Portfolio.
She has extensive clinical experience (16+ years) across health services, private practice, and NDIS settings, specializing in adult caseloads. As an Associate Advisor for an Honours Project at the University of Queensland, she explores Speech Pathologists' use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in aphasia care.
