Helen Tiplady

Helen Tiplady is a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Northampton's Faculty of Health, Education and Society, specializing in Initial Teacher Training (ITT) science education. With 16 years of prior primary teaching experience including leadership roles, she now leads science and design/technology curriculum development while teaching research methodology and expertise development modules.

Her research focuses on enhancing primary education through outdoor learning, teacher development via video reflection, and inclusive science pedagogy. Recent projects include 'STEP Outside' supporting outdoor teaching practices and 'Children as researchers' examining child-led wellbeing assessment. She investigates gender perceptions in science education and transformative learning through international collaborations.

Tiplady contributes to academic service as External Examiner for the University of Roehampton and through STEM education advocacy. Her work demonstrates commitment to translating research into practical teaching strategies for primary education contexts.
