Emma Whewell

Dr. Emma Whewell is an Associate Professor in Learning & Teaching at the University of Northampton, affiliated with the Faculty of Education, Arts, Science and Technology. She serves as Programme Leader for the BA Sports Development and Physical Education degree and Co-Lead for the Centre for Active Digital Education.

• Research expertise includes digital pedagogies, phenomenology, physical education, and inclusive practices
• Key projects: Headsets for Hope (immersive tech for SEN/D), Holiday Activities and Food Programme (PhD studentship), STEP Outside (outdoor learning), and DLAB2: Developing Changemakers (Erasmus+)

Her research spans inclusion, access, and pedagogy, with current projects in extended reality, outdoor learning, and health and wellbeing. She has supervised MA students in Physical Education and is accepting PhD students.
