Helen Robertson is an Associate Lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts, specializing in interdisciplinary art practices that bridge sculpture, installation, and performance. Her work investigates painterly traditions, minimalism's objecthood, and architectural influences, often incorporating materials like clear film, light projections, and site-responsive interventions. Notable projects include In the Gap Between Past and Future (2021), which explores Eileen Gray’s Villa E.1027, and the participatory [these roarers] (2018) at Whitstable Biennale.
Her research engages feminist perspectives, architectural history, and political themes. Exhibitions include venues such as the Hayward Gallery (London), Manchester Art Gallery, and Galerie Nei Liicht (Luxembourg). Collaborations with dancers and architects, like Turn and Return (2024), highlight her interest in choreography and spatial dynamics. Robertson’s practice emphasizes audience interaction and the interplay between physical and conceptual spaces.
Her works frequently address temporal and spatial boundaries, such as Painted Screens 2 (2021) and Enclosed Garden, which interrogate architectural metaphors and materiality. A selection of her installations and performances are documented in exhibitions like Utopia in Crisis at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
