Helen Polson is an Associate Professor at Bard Graduate Center in New York City. She works in writing and exhibition interpretations, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to material culture and design history.
- PhD in Performance Studies from New York University
- MA in Visual Culture from University of Otago
- BA (Hons) in Mathematics from University of Otago
Her research explores intersections between performance, technology, and disability, informed by her background in mathematics, dance, and science fiction. She also investigates communication theory through her work in art writing, science writing, and performance.
Scientific Awards:
- Deena Burton Memorial Award for Outstanding Dissertation Research in Dance
Helen has taught writing at New York University, mathematics and philosophy at University of Otago in New Zealand, and cyborgs/disability-queer theory at the New School. Her email is helen.polson@bgc.bard.edu.
