Professor Helen O'Sullivan serves as Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Chester, providing strategic leadership for academic functions including portfolio development, teaching enhancement, and digital transformation initiatives. She holds a personal Chair in Medical Education and previously served in leadership roles at Keele University and University of Liverpool.
Her education includes a BSc in Molecular Biology, PhD in Bacterial Genetics from University of Liverpool, and an MBA from Open University. She is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE.
Professor O'Sullivan's research focuses on medical professionalism assessment, emotional competence frameworks in medical education, and the role of emotional intelligence in clinical communication. Her work has established theoretical models for empathy development in healthcare education.
Her publications concentrate on clinical communication, emotional intelligence in medical contexts, and educational leadership, demonstrating consistent focus on improving medical training methodologies and outcomes.
