Dr. Michael O’Sullivan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Brock University, specializing in comparative, international, and global citizenship education. His research focuses on the impact of International Service Learning (ISL) on both participants and host communities, particularly in Latin America. He has conducted fieldwork in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Cuba, examining curriculum reforms and the experiences of marginalized communities. His work critiques neo-colonial dynamics in international education and advocates for solidarity-oriented approaches.
Dr. O’Sullivan holds a Master’s in Political Science analyzing Chile’s Allende government and a PhD focusing on Mayan curriculum reforms in post-conflict Guatemala. He has taught at various educational levels and contributed to community development projects across Latin America.
