Helen Nuttall is a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience within the Department of Psychology at Lancaster University. She leads the Neuroscience of Speech and Action (NoSA) Lab, which investigates brain mechanisms underlying hearing, speech, action, and cognition in health, disease, and aging. She also serves as Research Group Lead for Neuroscience and Neurocognition and Co-director of the cross-Faculty NeuRAL Network.

Her research focuses on sensory-cognitive interactions, aging, and neuroplasticity. Recent work explores exercise prehabilitation for brain health, audiovisual speech perception, and socioeconomic influences on hearing function. She is a prominent science communicator, active as a Seed Talks and TEDx speaker, and co-hosts the podcast 'Drs Confess' with Dr Kate Slade.
