Dr. Helen Murray is a Lecturer in Education Policy at King’s College London, affiliated with the School of Education, Communication & Society within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. Her research focuses on critical and historical perspectives of education, particularly examining higher education in conflict and crisis contexts. She holds a PhD in Education funded by the ESRC, investigating Lebanon’s national universities and their relationship with conflict and the public sphere.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on Critical Perspectives on Education, Education and International Development, and Research Methods for MA Education students. She is actively involved in the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), contributing to interdisciplinary analyses of social justice in education policy. Recent activities include a 2023 seminar on the 'publicness' of universities during conflict, critiquing emerging frameworks in Higher Education in Emergencies (HEiE).
Her work bridges academic research with policy advocacy, drawing on over a decade of experience in international development, education justice, and conflict-affected regions across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Central Asia.
