Helen Lloyd is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Programme in the School of Science, Technology and Health at York St John University. Her expertise spans perioperative practice, critical care, and healthcare education. She holds a Senior Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy and serves on the Health and Care Professions Council's Fitness to Practice Panel.
With a clinical background in orthopaedic surgery, anaesthetics, and cardiothoracic care, Lloyd transitioned to academia in 2018 as a Course Leader for the BSc Operating Department Practice (Apprenticeship). She completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and currently pursues a PhD exploring perioperative nutrition in elderly hip fracture patients.
Her research interests include global perioperative standards, career pathways for perioperative staff, and bridging public health with surgical care. Professional activities include NIHR grant reviewing and leadership roles in healthcare education programs.
