Helen K. Gelinas is an Associate Professor at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Cairn University. She teaches American Literature and English Composition, blending her expertise in Early American literature, religious history, and Biblical scholarship.

- MA in English/American Studies (University of Tübingen)
- BMus in Music Education (Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford)
Her research focuses on Christianity’s influence on English and American literature, particularly through figures like Cotton Mather and Jonathan Edwards. She has contributed to major projects such as the publication of Mather’s Biblia Americana and the preservation of early American Christian history via the New England’s Hidden Histories program.
Recent publications highlight her work on Puritan theology, gender roles in religious texts, and historical contextualization. She has presented at conferences in the U.S. and Germany, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to colonial literature.
Scientific recognition includes a Yale Divinity School Research Fellowship and selection by Germany’s Ministry of Culture for educational initiatives. She is also certified as a Connecticut Secondary English educator and holds the Praxis II certification.
Helen actively advises the Cairn Honors Program and serves as Project Director and Director of Transcription for New England’s Hidden Histories, digitizing early American religious documents. Her ministry roles span church leadership, women’s outreach, and music ministry.
