Dr. Helen Haswell is a Lecturer at the School of Arts, English and Languages, Queen's University Belfast. She teaches courses including Introduction to Animation Studies, Screenwriting, and Editing for Film and Television across undergraduate and MA levels. Her research explores animation, film marketing, and screen industries, with specialization in Disney and Pixar studios.
Research interests span:
- Animation aesthetics and history
- Studio narratives (particularly Disney/Pixar)
- Film industry dynamics and marketing strategies
- Gender representation in animation
Her publications focus on Pixar's influence on animation, Disney's creative evolution, and analyses of franchises like Toy Story. Recent works examine animation nostalgia, digital aesthetics, and studio allegories, with contributions to journals and edited collections.
