Dr. Helen Dixon is a Lecturer at the School of Classics, University College Dublin, with a focus on the Renaissance reception of antiquity. Her research examines the Roman Academy, textual transmission of Latin authors like Tibullus and Lucretius, and intellectual exchanges between the Byzantine East and Renaissance West.
- Current Vice Principal for Research, Innovation and Impact (College of Arts and Humanities) since 2023
- Faculty member at UCD since 2007
Research Interests: Dixon's work spans Renaissance humanism, medieval-to-Renaissance textual transmission, and the cultural impact of ancient texts. Her book project on Pomponio Leto redefines his role in initiating contextual appreciation of antiquity.
Scientific Contribution: She has secured multiple grants including:
- East meets West in fifteenth-century Rome (2019-2020)
- Conflicting Chronologies in the Pre-modern World (2017-2018)
