Hein Bjartmann Bjerck is a Professor at the Department of Archaeology and Cultural History, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and Head of the NTNU Archaeology Studies Program. His career spans roles as Cultural Heritage Officer in Nordland County and Svalbard, and Editor-in-Chief of the Norwegian Archaeological Review. He specializes in early settlements, maritime adaptation, and cultural heritage management, with a focus on Scandinavia and Patagonia.
Research interests include Pleistocene/Holocene transitions, material culture, and comparative studies of hunter-gatherer societies. Notable projects include the ‘Marine Ventures’ initiative exploring human-sea relations and the ‘Ormen Lange’ gas field excavations.
