Prof. Witt’s research emphasizes genetic predispositions for pancreatic diseases, including the identification of disease genes linked to chronic pancreatitis. His work also addresses fructose malabsorption and pediatric liver pathologies. He is an active member of professional societies such as the German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ) and the European Pancreas Club (EPC).
His key publications (2000–2015) explore genetic variants associated with chronic pancreatitis and their molecular mechanisms. Awards include the Dr. Norbert Henning Prize (2003) and the Charité Research Prize (2000).
No grants or advising records are explicitly listed in the text. His professional affiliations and memberships highlight collaborative networks in pediatric gastroenterology and pancreatic research.
