Dr. Aleksejs Derovs is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Diseases, specializing in clinical medicine with a focus on gastroenterology. His expertise includes liver cirrhosis, malabsorption syndromes, gut microbiota, and inflammatory bowel diseases. He serves as an expert for the Latvian Academy of Sciences and Latvian Council of Science.
Research Interests: His work centers on gastrointestinal disorders including enteropathy, ulcerative colitis, and the gut-liver axis. Recent research explores microbiome-based therapies for liver diseases and evidence-based clinical guidelines for malabsorption syndromes.
Publications: His recent articles focus on European consensus guidelines for malabsorption management (2025), gut-liver interactions in chronic liver diseases (2025), and clinical applications of medical assessment tools (2024).
