Heike Lorenz

Heike Lorenz serves as apl. Professor at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg since 2010 and Senior Scientist/Team Leader for Crystallization at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems since 1998. Her academic foundation includes a Diploma in Technical Chemistry from Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (1988), Ph.D. from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (1992), and Habilitation there (2004).

Her work develops innovative separation methods for pharmaceuticals and food ingredients through techniques like Preferential Crystallization, while advancing climate-friendly production of bulk chemicals and valorization of industrial waste streams such as lignin. This research bridges fundamental science with industrial applications in green chemistry.
