Prof. Dr. habil. Heike Köckler is a Professor of Social Space and Health in the Department of Community Health at the University of Health in Bochum. Her research focuses on environmental justice, urban health, and participatory/transdisciplinary approaches to community health, with an emphasis on digital methods and transformative research.
- Education: Dipl.-Ing. in Spatial Planning (1997), Doctorate in Political Science (2004), Habilitation in Spatial Planning (2015)
She has served as Dean of the Department of Community Health (2016-2020) and leads initiatives such as the International Working Group on Health Equity in Urban Planning and the Leibniz Lab 'Pandemic Preparedness: One Health, One Future.' Her projects include Urban Health, digispace, Digital Health Factory Ruhr, and Healthy through Exercise in Wattenscheid. She has received the DiGi Fellowship for her work on inverted classroom methodologies.
Her professional affiliations include the Academy for Spatial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL), the International Association of People and Environment Studies (IAPS), and the Municipal Prevention and Health Conference Herne. She also contributes to advisory boards and foundations focused on health-promoting urban development.
