Heidrun Demo

Heidrun Demo is a Tenured Professor of General Didactics and Inclusion at the Faculty of Education, University of Bolzano. Her research focuses on innovative and inclusive educational approaches, emphasizing evidence-based practices aligned with global inclusive education frameworks. She actively participates in policy discussions, such as analyzing Italy’s National Indications for inclusive and intercultural schooling, and critically evaluates debates on special education provision.

Her academic leadership includes coordinating master’s programs in Primary Education (Italian, Ladin, and German sections) and PhD programs in Education and Social Sciences. Courses she teaches span qualitative methodology, special education for inclusion, and multiprofessional teamwork in inclusive settings.

Her work bridges theory and practice, advocating for systemic educational reforms that address diversity, learning difficulties, and impairment challenges. She frequently collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and contributes to public discourse on educational equity through media engagements.
