Heidi Wendt is Associate Professor of Religions of the Greco-Roman World at McGill University, jointly appointed in the School of Religious Studies and Department of History and Classical Studies. Her research investigates religious developments in the Roman imperial period, examining self-authorized religious experts and early Christian literary production.
Wendt's current book project analyzes how second-century Christians used texts to establish religious authority. Her work combines epigraphic analysis with literary criticism to reconstruct marginalized religious practices. Recent publications explore Roman-era disability, material religion artifacts, and classical education traditions.
As Vice-President of the Academia Latinitati Fovendae, she promotes Latin pedagogy. Wendt develops curricula integrating archaeological evidence with textual analysis and contributes to public understanding of ancient religious diversity.
