Heidi Stoeckl is a Lecturer at the Department of Global Health and Development, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand. She currently holds a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Educations:
- MSc in Sociology, University of Oxford, Nuffield College (2006)
- DPhil in Evidence Based Social Intervention, University of Oxford (2009), funded by a Rhodes Scholarship
Her research focuses on the prevalence, health effects, and risk factors of intimate partner violence, interventions addressing intimate partner violence and vertical transmission of HIV, human trafficking, and intimate partner homicide and femicide.

Heidi attributes her academic development to her DPhil experience at Oxford, where she developed methodological skills and critical thinking under the mentorship of Professor Frances Gardner and Professor Ann Buchanan.
