Dr. Heidi Morrison is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She holds a BA in French Literature from UC Berkeley (1999), an MA in Middle East Studies from Harvard University (2002), and a PhD in Modern Middle East History from UC Santa Barbara (2009). Her research examines childhood experiences in colonial and conflict zones, with regional expertise in Egypt and Palestine.
Research interests focus on oral history methodologies, trauma studies, and youth agency in political conflicts. Her work analyzes how children shape historical narratives in contexts of colonial modernity and military occupation.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on youth experiences in the Middle East, with recent work examining Palestinian resistance. Research has been funded by Fulbright, NEH, and PARC grants.
