Heidi Mansour

Dr. Heidi Mansour is a tenured Full Professor at Florida International University (FIU), holding appointments in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (Department of Environmental Health Sciences), Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine), and the College of Engineering (Department of Biomedical Engineering). She leads the Drug Discovery and Delivery Program at FIU’s Center for Translational Science. Her research focuses on targeted drug delivery systems, nanomedicine, and inhalation aerosols for pulmonary and vascular diseases. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Dr. Mansour’s education includes a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by postdoctoral training at UW-Madison and UNC-Chapel Hill. She has secured NIH grants and pioneered over 100 publications, 10 patents, and 16 book chapters. Her work has trained 5 PhD students and 15 postdocs, many of whom now lead roles in academia and industry.

Key research areas include multifunctional nanocarriers for lung surfactants, nose-to-brain non-invasive delivery, and biodegradable polymers for sustained drug release. She serves on editorial boards of journals like RSC Molecular Systems Design & Engineering and co-edited books on inhalation aerosol medicine. Current projects address pulmonary hypertension, anti-inflammatory therapies, and translational nanomedicine.
