Heidi M. Mansour

Dr. Heidi M. Mansour is a tenured Full Professor at Florida International University (FIU), affiliated with the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (Department of Environmental Health Sciences), Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine), and the College of Engineering (Department of Biomedical Engineering). She leads the Drug Discovery and Delivery Program at the FIU Center for Translational Science in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and has been a faculty member since February 2022.

Research Interests:
Dr. Mansour's research spans pharmaceutical sciences, nanotechnology, and translational medicine, with a focus on advanced drug delivery systems. Her work emphasizes inhaled medical aerosols, microparticles, nanoparticles, controlled and sustained release systems, and transdermal delivery. She investigates therapies for cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, infectious diseases, CNS disorders, and respiratory distress syndromes using both in vitro (2D/3D human cell models, spheroids) and in vivo models.

Her research is supported by NIH, FDA, and industry partners. She serves on the PhRMA Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee, ISAM Executive Board, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. She is an Associate Editor of RSC Pharmaceutics and Topics Editor of Pharmaceutics, and serves on editorial boards of multiple journals including Frontiers in Drug Delivery, Current Nanomedicine, and RSC Molecular Systems Design & Engineering.

Training & Leadership:
Dr. Mansour has mentored 15 postdoctoral scholars and graduated 5 PhD students. She previously served as Director of the PharmD/PhD dual-degree program and Pharmaceutics/Pharmacokinetics Track at the University of Arizona. She has co-edited two major books and published over 130 peer-reviewed articles and 17 book chapters.

Laboratory & Conferences:
She leads the Mansour Lab, focused on inhalation aerosols and nanomedicine. She is organizing the NanoFlorida 2025 Conference at FIU, highlighting her leadership in the nanotechnology community.
