Heidi Lyons

Heidi Lyons is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Advisor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work and Criminal Justice at Oakland University. Her research focuses on sexuality, sexual health, family demography, research methods, and intimate relationships. She holds a faculty position in Rochester, MI, and advises students in sociology programs.

Her research has been published in journals such as Archives of Sexual Behavior, Sexualities, and Journal of Sex Research. Notable work includes studies on marital sexual quality in older adults, casual sex patterns among young adults, and the sociological implications of nonmarital fertility.

Lyons has received the Hugo G Beigel Award (2011) for her contribution to Journal of Sex Research. She teaches courses including Human Sexuality, Social Statistics, and Sociology of the Family.
