Heidi Denzel is a Senior Lecturer in German Studies at Dartmouth College with a concurrent Visiting Associate Professor appointment. She maintains additional faculty engagement at Georgia State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her office is located in Dartmouth Hall, Room 209A (HB 6084).
Denzel's research explores intercultural dynamics through multiple lenses:
- Border/Migration Studies: Examines physical and cultural boundaries in global contexts
- Media Representations: Analyzes portrayals of religious/ethnic diversity in film and television
- Biographic Narratives: Investigates reception theories and biographical fiction
- Transnational Cinema: Focuses on German and Latin American film genres
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on intercultural mediation, with recent work (2017-2023) concentrating on: German-Muslim cultural tensions through media analysis; migration narratives in transnational cinema; pedagogical innovations for language education; and Enlightenment philosophy in contemporary discourse. This reflects her interdisciplinary approach bridging literary theory, film studies, and cultural sociology.
