Dr. Heidi Banse is the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Arkansas State University, where she oversees academic and administrative operations. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Therapeutics at the University of Calgary (2013) and as an Assistant Professor, later promoted to Associate Professor, of Equine Medicine at Louisiana State University (2017). Her academic journey includes a DVM from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (2007), an internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Georgia, and a combined residency in equine internal medicine with a PhD in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences at Oklahoma State University.

Her research interests focus on:
- Veterinary Education: clinical skills training, competency-based curriculum design, and educational leadership

Dr. Banse actively contributes to the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges’ Council on Outcomes-based Veterinary Education (COVE) and the Spectrum of Care Initiative.
