Prof. Dr. Hedwig Rosa Griesehop is a Professor for Theory and Practice of Social Work Methods at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH Berlin), where she has been teaching since October 2003. She serves as the Head of the part-time internet-based distance learning program Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASA-online) since 2010. Her academic career includes previous positions as a Supervision Officer at ASH Berlin (2005-2010) and as a Lecturer at the University of Bremen (1998-2003).
Her educational background includes a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Bremen (2002) with a dissertation on 'Multiple Sclerosis: Processes of Biographical Appropriation and Life Planning in the Context of a Chronic Illness,' a Diploma in Psychology from the University of Bremen (1992-1996), and a Diploma in Social Work/Social Pedagogy from Bremen University of Applied Sciences (1983-1987). She is also a state-recognized social worker and social pedagogue.
Prof. Griesehop's research focuses on biographical approaches in social work, including biographical case reconstruction, resource analysis, and the theoretical-practical transfer of biographical perspectives to professional practice. She has made significant contributions to the understanding of chronic illness management, particularly multiple sclerosis, from a biographical perspective. Her recent work has emphasized online education in social work, developing innovative study formats that allow professionals to combine work and study through distance learning programs.
Her publications reveal a strong focus on the integration of biographical methods in social work practice, with increasing attention to digital education formats in recent years. She has co-edited significant volumes on online teaching and learning in social work education, documenting the transformation of teaching and learning cultures through digital technologies.

She has developed approaches for understanding clients in complex problem situations and their self- and world constructions, contributing significantly to methodological foundations for professional action in social work.
