Dr. Heba Y. Abdel-Rahim is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Toledo’s Neff College of Business and Innovation. She serves as Director of the Ohio Region for the Management Accounting Section (MAS) of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and coordinates the joint research seminar between the accounting and finance departments at the University of Toledo. Her research focuses on managerial accounting systems, behavioral decision-making, and cross-cultural studies in accounting practices. Dr. Abdel-Rahim holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Georgia State University, an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Florida, and a B.S. in Accounting from Assiut University, Egypt. She is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
Her research has been funded by grants from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the Center for Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR), and University of Toledo initiatives. Notable awards include the College of Business Innovation Award (2021) and induction into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society (2018). She teaches advanced managerial accounting, cost accounting, and introductory managerial accounting courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Abdel-Rahim’s work spans topics like participative budgeting, cost estimation, trust in managerial reporting, and the impact of cultural differences on contract interpretation. Her publications appear in top-tier journals such as Contemporary Accounting Research and Accounting, Organizations and Society.
