Heather Walling Doty is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware. She holds a part-time appointment in the Office of the Provost, focusing on advancing diverse faculty in STEM fields. Her research spans clean energy, nanotechnology, and STEM workforce diversity, particularly women's representation in academia. Dr. Doty teaches undergraduate courses and advises the department's peer mentoring initiative and the Women in Engineering (WIE) graduate steering committee.

Her expertise in heat transfer and thermodynamics complements her interdisciplinary approach to energy and materials science.
Advising & Leadership: She co-advises the WIE graduate committee and leads undergraduate peer mentoring. Her Provost office role emphasizes systemic strategies to improve faculty diversity and inclusion in STEM at UD.
