Dr. Heather Semper is a Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University since May 2019. She leads modules in MSc Health Psychology and undergraduate programs, and is affiliated with the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology (CeBSAP). Her research focuses on self-regulation in health conditions, technology applications, and behaviors such as eating, exercise, and chronic disease management. She holds Chartered Psychologist status and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Education: BSc and MSc from the University of Derby, Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology from Staffordshire University (2015). Prior roles include Lecturer at De Montfort University (2006) and Senior Lecturer at Staffordshire University (2014). Research projects include funded work on food allergy coping strategies, antimicrobial resistance perceptions, and food labeling interventions.
Awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributions to the Institute for Health Promotion and Education. Current projects explore behavioral change techniques in childhood screen time reduction and digital interventions for dual diagnosis patients.
