Dr Heather Round is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at Deakin Business School, part of Deakin University's Faculty of Business and Law. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. Her research focuses on innovation, creativity, leadership, and ethical culture, with a particular interest in identity work and its organizational implications. Heather has extensive industry experience spanning over 25 years in project management and organizational transformation across government and corporate sectors in multiple countries.
Her teaching interests include innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, reflected in units like MPM712 (Managing Innovation) and MPR705 (Entrepreneurship). She co-directs the Leadership Futures Hub and supervises doctoral students in areas like absorptive capacity and organizational learning.
Recent research highlights include studies on female leadership performativity, psychological capital in emerging leaders, and ethical climates in organizations. She has secured grants totaling over $194k for projects such as the Emerging Japanese-Australian Female Leader Program and a Melbourne Water Volunteering Program review.
