Dr. Heather McLeod is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, specializing in arts education at undergraduate and graduate levels. She has received national, university-wide, and faculty-level awards for teaching and curriculum development. Previously, she served as Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) and was Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Review of Art Education, a bilingual peer-reviewed journal.
Her research employs qualitative and arts-based methodologies, currently focusing on an Art Hive community project, a poetry initiative, and academic identity formation. Prior to academia, she taught in British Columbia and Nunavut, and worked in communications, training, and policy development for a teachers' federation and government.
Dr. McLeod’s contributions span educational practice, research, and administration, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and innovative pedagogy.
