معرفی
Professor Heather Knight is a Professor in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University. Her research focuses on understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying plant freezing tolerance, particularly in Arabidopsis thaliana. She examines how plants adapt to cold stress through processes like cold acclimation, with a special interest in cell wall structure and pectin's role in freezing resistance. Her work combines ice imaging techniques and molecular dynamics modeling in collaboration with Dr. Gabriele Sosso at Warwick University. Key achievements include identifying genes like SFR8 and exploring their roles in plant resilience. She has been an invited speaker at international institutions, served on advisory committees, and supervised multiple PhD students.
Research interests include plant stress responses, transcriptional regulation, and mechanical properties of plant cells. Her studies bridge fundamental biology with potential agricultural applications, aiming to enhance crop resilience to environmental extremes.
Recent publications highlight advancements in understanding pectin cross-linking, cell wall fucosylation, and integrative cold-circadian signaling pathways. Awards include membership on the GARNet Committee and external examiner roles.
